Going Solar Doesn’t Have to be Complicated if you Need Help
Home Needs Work Before Install?
Qualifying to go solar doesn’t mean you get installed on your roof when you have 3-5 years left on your current roof.
See how SolBright Power can help you take care of your roof prior to install with our vertically integrated and dedicated roofing team and partners that will help guide you through the whole roofing process

Roofing Done by Professionals
Sometimes a roof is needed prior to install and we do all the leg work in making sure that happens for you.
Roofing can get costly, plus having to go through the process of finding the right company at the right affordable price can be problematic.
SolBright makes it seamless with the process of getting a new roof before we even install on top of your home!

The Process is Simple
Roofing Permits Pulled
All the legwork is done for you if we determine the roof is absolutely needed before your solar array install. Permits for construction and everything else in between is taken care of, sit back, choose the color of your shingles if you choose to and wait to be contacted for roofing replacement dates.

Cleaning & Effectiveness
We Clean Up After
We clean after our mess of ripping your roof off and adding now plywood (if needed) ], new flashing, water guard, and layers of shingles and the process of how long depends on how big the home is typically 1-3 business days

Process Broken Down Simply
Quick, Clean & Simple
> Initial Consultation & Inspection
A licensed roofing contractor visits your home for a thorough roof assessment, checks for damage (leaks, rot, ventilation issues), measures the roof, and discusses options.
> Choosing Materials & Quote
Select roofing type (e.g., asphalt shingles, metal), color, and accessories. The contractor provides a detailed written estimate, including costs, timeline, and warranties.
> Permits & Approvals
Obtain necessary building permits from your local Massachusetts town/city (required for most full replacements to ensure code compliance).
> Preparation & Site Setup
Protect your property (yard, plants, gutters) with tarps and plywood. Set up safety equipment and dumpsters for debris.
> Removal of Old Roof
Tear off existing shingles/layers down to the deck. Inspect and repair any damaged wood (sheathing, rafters) — Massachusetts code requires addressing rot or issues here.

Process Broken Down Simply
Quick, Clean & Simple
> Install Ice & Water Shield & Underlayment
Apply ice and water barrier (critical in MA’s snowy winters) in valleys, eaves, and penetrations. Add synthetic or felt underlayment across the deck.
> Install Edge Metal & Starter Shingles
Add drip edge and rake edge flashing. Install starter strip shingles along eaves and rakes for a secure base.
> Install New Roofing Material
Lay shingles (or other covering) row by row, nailing properly per manufacturer specs and MA code (e.g., wind-resistant fastening in high-wind zones).
> Flashings, Vents & Accessories
Seal around chimneys, vents, skylights, and pipes with proper flashing. Install or replace ridge vents, soffit vents for proper attic ventilation (required by code).
> Final Inspection & Cleanup
Conduct a final walkthrough. Clean up all debris and magnet sweep the yard. Local inspector may check for code compliance if permitted.
> Completion & Warranty
Provide homeowner with care instructions, warranties (material + workmanship), and any manufacturer registration.

Electrical Panel Upgrades Done in a Flash!
Electrical upgrades are sometimes and when they are we handle all the permitting that’s needed for the home and once approved, we move forward to getting your electrical upgraded to new panel if needed.
Licensed Electricians
Licensed Residential Electrician: A general home electrician who’s licensed in your state (e.g., journeyman or master electrician). They install/upgrade panels, run wires, add breakers, and ensure everything meets local electrical codes (NEC). Many do subpanel installs regularly.
Solar Electrician or Solar PV Electrician (specialized): An electrician with extra training/certification in solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. They know solar-specific rules — like the 120% rule for backfeeding power, rapid shutdown requirements, grounding for solar inverters, and how to safely connect inverters/batteries.
Sub-Panel Add On?
Our installing team will put the solar backfeed breaker in the subpanel instead of cramming it into the full main panel. This follows code rules (like the 120% rule) for safely adding solar without overloading things.
• Sometimes for solar + batteries, a subpanel is even required (e.g., a “critical loads” subpanel for backup power).
Main Panel Upgrade?
Full panel upgrade (replace the whole main panel with a bigger one, like going from 100A or 200A with more slots): This works great if your panel is old, undersized overall, or you plan big future additions (like EV charger + heat pump) and might need utility shutoff, rewiring many circuits, and this of course will take more time.
